PDG Expenditure

What is the PDG?

The Pupil Development Grant (PDG) is designed to support improving outcomes and provision for students eligible for free school meals (eFSM) and looked after children (LAC). The PDG is intended to help overcome this additional barrier which prevent learners from disadvantaged backgrounds achieving their full potential.

How our grant is spent

At The Bishop of Llandaff, our plan for using the PDG allocation from Welsh Government is integrated into our school improvement plan (SIP). Our four overarching priorities (2017 - 2020) linked to

  • Teaching for Learning
  • Ethos and Environment
  • Achievement and Standards
  • Maximum opportunities for all

Our PDG is spent in the following ways for 2017-18

  • PiXL club membership £5,960
  • Learning Coach/Mentor £26,099
  • Maths and English teaching £83,750
  • Alternative provision £4,680
  • Enrichment opportunities £4,000

The strategies implemented by the school are drawn upon the most effective practice and educational research from organisations such as Sutton Trust and Education Endowment Fund, which includes well-evidenced interventions as part of a whole-school strategy.

"The school's use of the Pupil Development Grant has secured outstanding outcomes for those eligible for free school meals" Estyn
