How to Cope with Coronavirus

The Coronavirus has been a 'once in a lifetime' event that has affected everyone in society. Most of us, both adults and students, are concerned about the impact of the coronavirus; the impact it has had on our physical and mental health, as well as the safety of our friends and family. If you feel anxious, scared or sad, then you are not alone. There is a lot of information available but some of this comes from more trusted sources than others.

In this section you will find resources that provide tips, advice and guidance on the coronavirus and how you can support your mental health.

Here are some of the organisations who may be able to help

  • Public Health Wales is the national public health agency in Wales. It works to protect and improve the health and wellbeing of all citizens in Wales, while seeking to reduce health inequalities. They have provided support and guidance for children and young adults in relation to Coronavirus, by providing tips and advice, as well as contact details of professionals available to discuss any concerns.
  • Meic is a helpline service for children and young people, aged up to 25 in Wales. They provide assistance on a range of issues, including Coronavirus.
  • Children’s Commissioner for Wales is responsible for ensuring the rights of children in Wales are represented. The Commissioner also explores the decisions made by public bodies in Wales, including Welsh Government, and how these affect children’s rights.
  • Young Minds is a leading charity fighting for children and young people’s mental health. They offer support for those who are struggling with their mental health, in particular, where they may have a physical illness. This may also be linked to anxiety about the health of a family member, or what impact the virus will have on everyday life.
