Courses Available

All of our students in the sixth form work towards a suite of Level 3 qualifications. These are courses which include Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and Advanced Level (A2) as well as BTEC Diplomas and Applied A Levels.

In the sixth form, the vast majority of students in Year 12 will opt for 4 AS qualifications in addition to the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate qualification. A small number of students will opt for 3 AS level qualifications in Year 12. The route will depend on success at GCSE level.

Advanced Level qualifications provide a more traditional route to both higher education and employment. In these subjects, assessment is predominantly by external examination. Vocational qualifications, such as BTEC Diploma or Applied subjects have elements of controlled assessment which minimises the amount of external assessment.

All students follow the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification, which is a compulsory element as specified by Welsh Government. Students must follow this qualification regardless of the number of AS/A2 qualifications studied.

For more information about individual courses, please download our course guide.
