Caldicot Partnership

In June 2019, The Bishop of Llandaff CiW High School entered into a partnership with Caldicot School and Monmouthshire County Council. The model will see a shared leadership arrangement across the two schools, while ensuring the most effective practice between both institutions is shared systematically. At the same time, both The Bishop of Llandaff and Caldicot will remain separate schools. A review of the progress of the partnership will be undertaken during 2021.

Vision and Aims

Our vision as a partnership is to share the most effective practices in teaching, learning and leadership to enable students to achieve outcomes relative to their potential, while developing the skills, qualities and characteristics to become successful in adult life.

Through partnership, our joint aims and aspirations seek to

  • Provide clear benefits for the children of both schools;
  • Share and develop staff expertise across both schools;
  • Enable both schools, individually and collectively, to develop new and innovative ways of working;
  • Raise the aspirations of children, staff, parents and governors; and
  • Secure strong strategic leadership.

The guiding principle of this partnership is that both individual school maintains and develops their individual characters, ethos and distinctiveness. However, each will seek to use their differences to enhance the experience for children from both schools.

Governance

Both schools will maintain separate governing bodies who will exercise their own statutory roles and responsibilities. However, a Joint Partnership Committee (“The Partnership Committee”), with clear terms of reference, will be established to oversee the performance of the partnership and Executive Headteacher. The Partnership Committee will meet on a termly basis to monitor the extent to which the aims, aspirations and guiding principles of the arrangement are being met;

The Partnership Committee will comprise of the Executive Headteacher, the Chairs (or Vice-Chair) of both Governing Bodies (and appropriate substitute), and two Governors from each of the separate Governing Bodies. The Head of School in each institution will also attend.
